ENDPOINT & NETWORK CONSULTING

Endpoint management and network operations consulting

Every device, accounted for.

How many PCs does the company actually own? Which machines have stopped installing updates? Who configured that router? In companies without dedicated IT staff, none of this is written down anywhere — the equipment simply keeps running. Hamanode starts by establishing where you actually stand and putting the problems in order. Where hands-on work follows, we take on what we can ourselves and bring in partner firms for anything that needs specialist capacity.

We don't take phone enquiries. Please use the contact form.

CURRENT STATE 01

Is this roughly how things stand?

  • Nobody can say exactly how many PCs the company owns
  • Accounts belonging to people who have left are still active
  • No one knows which machines have stopped installing OS or application updates
  • The Wi-Fi password is still passed on verbally to each new hire
  • Whoever configured the routers and switches has since left
  • What is installed on company-issued PCs is not tracked
  • Everything "works for now", so nobody wants to touch the settings
  • Client security questionnaires are a struggle to answer every time

None of this causes trouble until something breaks. The trouble comes when something does break, and when a client or auditor asks you to demonstrate that your equipment is under control. By that point it is usually either too late, or far more expensive than it needed to be.

SERVICES 02

What we do

Endpoint management is the core of the work, and we treat the network those devices connect to as part of the same picture. Surveying, design and rule-making are what we do. Where hands-on work follows, we take on what we can and partner with specialist firms for anything that needs more scale or expertise.

ENDPOINT MANAGEMENT

Endpoint management consulting

We survey and design what it takes to get your PCs and phones into a properly inventoried state. That starts with a physical stocktake, then decisions about how far to manage devices with Microsoft Intune, Entra ID and similar tools, standards for updates and security settings, and a standardised build process. We stay involved until those decisions are actually working day to day.

  • Device stocktake and inventory design
  • Defining an MDM (Intune and similar) approach
  • Making update and patch status visible
  • Security configuration standards
  • Standardising device build procedures
  • Advice on device selection and procurement
NETWORK OPERATIONS

Network operations consulting

We survey and design your way out of a network nobody dares to touch. We map the existing hardware, cabling and configuration into a network diagram and IP inventory, then look at Wi-Fi improvements, remote access options and a hardware replacement plan. Cabling work and large hardware swaps are arranged together with partner firms.

  • Site survey, network diagram and IP inventory
  • Network design and review
  • Wi-Fi survey and improvement proposals
  • VPN and remote access options
  • Hardware replacement planning
  • Contractor selection and quote review
IT SUPPORT & ADVISORY

Someone to ask about IT

For companies that have not yet appointed internal IT staff, or cannot. How to set up joiner and leaver procedures, how to handle internal support requests, whether a quote you have been given is reasonable, how to answer the security questionnaire a client has just sent you. We make sure there is someone to ask when a decision has to be made, and leave things documented so an internal hire can pick them up later.

  • Designing joiner and leaver procedures
  • Setting up internal support request handling
  • Reviewing equipment quotes for reasonableness
  • Support with writing operating procedures
  • Support with internal IT policies
  • Help answering client security questionnaires
HOW IT WORKS 03

How it works

We don't open with a contract. We look at where things stand together, get the work and the likely cost clear, and you decide from there.

  1. STEP 01

    Tell us what's going on

About 30 minutes online. What is giving you trouble, what your environment looks like, and who internally understands what. There is no charge at this stage.

  2. STEP 02

    We survey the current state

We establish what devices and network equipment you actually have, and report on what isn't visible and where risk remains.

  3. STEP 03

    We agree what to do

You get a prioritised list and an approximate cost. Where something would be quicker handled in-house, we will say so. You are free to stop here.

  4. STEP 04

    We support the work

We carry out what we can directly, and arrange cabling work or larger rollouts together with partner firms. You get a written record of decisions and work carried out each time.

PRICING 04

How pricing works

The first conversation and a ballpark estimate are free. Actual cost varies a great deal with device count, number of sites and scope, so we quote individually once we understand your situation. There are three ways to work with us.

PLAN A

Single consultation

For when you want an opinion on one thing: choosing equipment or a product, sanity-checking a quote you have received, or advice on isolating a fault. No ongoing commitment.

Quoted by the hour

PLAN B

Initial survey

A survey of your devices and network, and a report setting out the issues in priority order. Suited to the stage where you first want to understand what you actually have.

Fixed fee based on device count and sites

PLAN C

Retainer (monthly)

A set number of hours each month as your point of contact: periodic checks that the inventory is being kept up, decisions around joiners and leavers, sitting in on vendor meetings. Visit frequency is agreed with you.

Monthly fee based on hours

Where the survey shows that hands-on work is needed, we take on what we can directly. For anything requiring specialist capacity — cabling work, larger rollouts — we either introduce a partner firm or act as your point of contact and arrange it. Either way, you get a quote before anything starts.
Travel within Yokohama and Kawasaki is not charged. Elsewhere, we will discuss actual travel costs. Anything that can be done remotely, we can do anywhere in Japan.

ABOUT 05

About Hamanode

From the founder

Hamanode is a sole proprietorship based in Kinkocho, Yokohama, with consulting as its main business. It is currently run by one person.

There is a limit to what one person can do. That is precisely why the core of the work is establishing where things stand, putting them in order of priority, and assembling what you need in order to decide.

Where hands-on work follows, we take on what we can directly. Anything one person cannot reasonably take on — cabling work, larger rollouts — is arranged together with partner firms. We will not say yes to everything, take it all on, and leave you waiting. What we can and cannot do is made clear from the start.

Your point of contact does not change. The person you first speak to stays with the work through to the end. You will not find yourself explaining the background again to someone new.

This is not the right fit for large company-wide rollouts, or for requirements that need staffed monitoring around the clock. If that is what you need, we will say so plainly. Where we can help most is a company with somewhere between ten and a hundred devices and nobody internally to turn to.

The name Hamanode combines "Hama", the local nickname for Yokohama, with "node" — the devices and network equipment the work is about.
